IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation)
Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries after hormonal stimulation, fertilised with sperm in the laboratory, and the resulting embryos transferred to the uterus. One or two embryos are typically transferred per cycle. Spare embryos of sufficient quality can be frozen for future cycles.
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)
A single sperm is injected directly into each egg. ICSI is used where sperm quality or count is low, where previous IVF cycles have had poor fertilisation rates, or where sperm has been surgically retrieved. Most IVF cycles in Turkey now use ICSI as standard.
Egg donation
Where a patient's own eggs are not viable, eggs from a verified donor can be used. Egg donation is legally permitted in Turkey under regulated conditions. Donor matching is managed by the clinic and all donors are fully screened. Recipient patients receive detailed but anonymised donor profiles.
Embryo freezing and FET
Surplus good-quality embryos from a fresh cycle can be frozen for future use. A Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is significantly less invasive and less expensive than a fresh cycle, and success rates are comparable. Many patients travel to Turkey for the initial retrieval and return for FET if their first transfer is unsuccessful.
Pregnancy monitoring and antenatal care
Memorial Hospital in Antalya offers a structured pregnancy monitoring protocol for patients who conceive following IVF treatment. This includes a full screening programme from weeks 4 through to birth preparation, covering blood tests, hormonal panels, detailed ultrasound scans and non-stress testing. Patients do not need to remain in Turkey for the full programme and most monitoring can be coordinated with UK healthcare.
Childbirth packages at Memorial Antalya
Memorial Antalya offers two childbirth delivery packages: C-section and normal labour. Both include a family member stay, paediatric and gynaecology consultations, full newborn screening, hearing tests, neonatal heel prick test, breastfeeding support, a newborn gift set and a traditional Turkish drink. C-section includes two recovery days; normal labour includes one. Some patients choose to deliver in Turkey having conceived through IVF there.

What a fertility treatment visit involves
Ovarian stimulation begins at home with self-administered injections, monitored remotely by the clinic. You travel to Turkey for egg retrieval, fertilisation and embryo transfer. Depending on your protocol, your stay may be between 5 days and 2 to 3 weeks. Turkish law requires patients to be a legally married heterosexual couple. A valid marriage certificate, passport photos and ID documents for both partners are required before treatment can begin. Gender selection is not permitted under Turkish law. Blood tests for both partners are also required in advance. Your Medstar coordinator explains exactly what is needed, manages all the logistics and is with you throughout.

IVF in Turkey is regulated by the Ministry of Health and clinics must hold specific accreditation to perform assisted reproduction procedures. Success rates vary by patient age and diagnosis and we will always give you an honest, realistic assessment during your consultation rather than an optimistic number designed to secure your booking. One important note: Turkish law currently requires patients to be a married heterosexual couple. A marriage certificate and ID documents for both partners are required before treatment can begin.

Yes. Most of the early monitoring during the stimulation phase can be done at a private scanning clinic in the UK. The clinic in Turkey provides a monitoring protocol and interprets your scan results remotely. You travel to Turkey when your follicles are ready for retrieval.
Frozen embryos remain stored at the clinic until you are ready to use them. Storage fees apply annually. You can return to Turkey for a frozen embryo transfer, or in some cases arrange transfer at a UK clinic though this involves coordinating between the two clinics and there are additional costs.
